ASSIGNMENTS/EVALUATION:

Attendance and participation (40%):   Since FYF is a small class, discussion and participation is critical to the learning that takes place in the classroom. Included under this requirement is attendance at the First-Year Florida Kick-Off. Attendance at all special events and regular classes will be RECORDED.   You are expected to attend.

Community Service Project (25%):   Information about community service projects will be distributed and discussed in class.   Students are expected to participate, as a class, in the particular service project agreed upon by the majority of class members in class discussions.

Class Assignments (20%):   Throughout the semester, we will assign various exercises which students are expected to complete by the deadline indicated.

FYF Journal (15%):   Each student will be required periodically to write a detailed journal. We will assign various entries for that journal and will collect and grade (according to both content and grammar) journals on an unannounced basis.   BRING YOUR JOURNALS TO CLASS EVERY LECTURE.   In order to obtain full credit for the journals, students must:

* Journal entries should be typed, double-spaced, in Times New Roman or Arial 12-pt font, with 1 inch margins on all 4 sides

* Journals are due the first 5 minutes of class otherwise considered late

* Journal assignments are due the following week unless noted.

* All journal entries should be 1-2 pages unless otherwise noted in the syllabus

* Journal entries are to use the following format.  Only this format is acceptable:
