You are in college now. Guess what...many of the rules have changed. No one has yet told you just how subtle some of those rule changes really are and how they can affect your academic success and future. First Year Florida will attempt to educate you to some of the new ground rules at the University of Florida. You are now free to do what you want. Mom is not here to remind you. Dad can’t fix your flat tire from where he is, and most of your long-developed support network, for all practical purposes, does not exist locally anymore. You are much more on your own than you have ever been. That’s exciting, isn’t it? Take the FYF journey with us this term and we promise you that, when the semester ends, you will feel much more a member of the UF extended community.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

florida field in the 1940's versus North Carolina
This course is designed to assist your transition into the University of Florida. First-Year Florida will emphasize the development of academic and personal skills that support success in college, as well as familiarize you with campus resources. Active participation in learning, including openly discussing student issues, will help you make the most of this experience. This course will be what YOU make it. If you engage in the conversations and activities of FYF, you will exit better prepared for UF than when you began.
Now, this band picture is crucially important. Why? Because the young man playing the trumpet at the front right is my son. He graduated from UF in 2004.
